    Cisco ASR 5000 Comprehensive Four-Day Technical Training GGSN

    The Cisco ASR 5000 Comprehensive Four-Day Technical Training, GGSN version 12.2 instructor-led course offered by Learning Services provides detailed instruction on how to manage, monitor, configure, and administer the Cisco® ASR 5000 to function as a Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) in a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) or Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) network environment. This course also provides supervised, hands-on training for performing basic diagnostics and troubleshooting of GGSN network functions.

    Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

    • Understand and use the StarOS command line interface (CLI)
    • Understand contexts and context selection processes
    • Perform initial system configuration, including administrative users, hardware redundancy, and remote management functions
    • Perform basic data service configuration for both basic IP and PPP PDP context support
    • Understand and implement enhanced functionality such as:
      • QoS traffic policing
      • OSPF v2 routing
      • Lawful Intercept
    • Apply software upgrades, session and feature use licenses, and configuration files
    • Configure bulk statistics and systems/event logging
    • Monitor subscriber connections
    • Monitor protocols used in subscriber connections
    • View component LEDs using the CLI or Element Manager system
    • Issue CLI “show” commands to:
      • Verify configuration
      • Monitor system hardware and software status
    • Use the Element Manager system for SNMP alarm management
    • Configure the system to support subscriber connections
    • Troubleshoot errors

    Following are the prerequisites for this course:

    • Participants must have a thorough understanding of IP routing, networking protocols, and a basic working knowledge of applicable GPRS and/or UMTS network operation.

    Participant Material Requirements

    Participants are required to bring the following materials to this training course:

    • Laptop or notebook computer with:
      • Terminal emulation program (such as PuTTY, available at www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/) capable of Telnet and SSH
      • IEEE 802.11 (A,B,G,N) Wi-Fi interface.

    Participants are responsible for all travel and expenses.
